A cross resulting from the breeding of an African Serval and a domestic cat has recently resulted in the replication of the striking coat pattern and body structure of the Serval.
Savannahs are smaller (up to 32 pounds) and more manageable than Servals, but are the largest hybrid feline available today.

This mating is the goal of many breeders; however, only a select few in the world have been able to achieve this. Select Exotics is one of the few who have created a breed resembling the most desired exotic feline, the Serval.

Unlike owning a Serval, no permits are needed to own a Savannah. Savannahs require no special care as they can be cared for like a domestic housecat. Savannah's use a litter box and make ideal housepets as they get along well with other pets and children.

|
Select Exotics has F1 - F5 kittens ranging from 3% to 75% Serval.
Only the males are sold as pets since they are sterile.

BUYER BEWARE: Be cautious when considering the purchase of a Savannah.
There have been instances in which full-blood Servals have been sold as
Savannahs. In other instances, kittens with NO Serval parentage have been
sold as Savannahs.

This is a SERVAL Kitten! |

Savannahs are very intelligent animals that tend to be dog-like in their personality.
They are leash trainable, like to go for car rides, play fetch, and like water.
Some will even jump in the bathtub with you!
|
|
The Savannah cohabitates well with other pets although they seem to quickly take on the roll of the
Alpha cat, it is without much trouble. Because they have so much energy they usually tend to tire other
pets out and then go looking for a new playmate.
|
|
 |
Dogs actually make wonderful playmates for the Savannah. Many people's biggest concern is whether
a Savannah will get along well with their dog and the answer is YES! For some reason, it seems Savannahs
would rather befriend the family dog before other pets.
|
|
Some owners have reported that their Savannah waits at the door for them to get home, and
some have even figured out how to open doors! Once home Savannahs like to be with their owners
for the rest of the night, usually following them from room to room as they go about their business.

Over the years we have tried to keep track of growth rate and mature size of the pets that we have produced. On average F1 50% males are ranging between 20 and 27 pounds, F2 25% males are ranging between 17 and 30 pounds and F3 12.5% males are ranging between 15 and 22 pounds. **We have one line of F2's that produces males that get over 30 pounds, with one at 38 pounds. This is not the average for F2's, but it is happening.
See the FAQ's page for additional information.
